USING THE SAYDEL COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT BRAND
The Saydel Community School District (SCSD) has intentionally invested time and resources into our district brand designs to establish a look and feel that generates integrity, pride, and tradition. For this reason, the District also has a responsibility to ensure all brand elements are used appropriately in order to protect its intended representation.
As of the 2024/2025 school year, we are implementing a new system to help us track and ensure proper brand use by school groups, vendors, and anyone incorporating the SCSD brand into public-facing materials, apparel, gear, etc.
STEPS FOR STARTING A BRAND PROJECT:
-
Complete a Brand Project Request Form for every project that includes the SCSD brand. Examples: uniforms, clothing/apparel, signs, posters, banners, gear, etc. Anyone associated with the project can be designated to complete the form, including a school group representative, SCSD employees/coaches, or a vendor.
-
If you are working with a vendor for the project, they MUST either be currently listed on the SCSD approved vendor list or they will need to register to be listed before any production of products begins. The project will not be approved without the vendor first being approved for the current school year.
-
Once the District approves the project to proceed, you will receive an email indicating the project is approved and a project number. The project number needs to be provided to your vendor as well.
-
Work with your group and the approved vendor to follow the SCSD brand guidelines. Designs must use District-approved colors, fonts, and logos outlined in our Brand Guide. If a vendor recommends not using a design for a brand guideline reason, please listen to them. Any design not aligning with guidelines will not be approved.
-
You or your vendor will submit the project design, along with the Brand Project Number, to the SCSD design review contact for approval before starting production.
-
You will receive a response that the design is approved, or you will be guided to make changes to follow brand guidelines. If approved, you may proceed with production. If changes are requested, you will need to resubmit designs until approved.
VENDOR REGISTRATION
To ensure the Saydel Community School District (SCSD) brand is used appropriately and within established guidelines, we are requiring all projects using the brand are produced by SCSD approved vendors. We provide an Approved Vendor List online for the convenience of groups and individuals who would like to produce products (uniforms, apparel, gear, etc.) with the SCSD brand.
All vendors producing materials with the SCSD brand must complete a vendor application and sign a license agreement every school year. Once your application is approved and we receive the signed license agreement, you are approved for the entire school year unless notified otherwise. Producing products intentionally without vendor approval or not signing the license agreement may result in a legal ban from using the SCSD brand temporarily or permanently.
Affiliate vs. Non-Affiliate Vendor Registrations & License Agreements
Vendors using the SCSD brand to sell products for profit (Non-Affiliate Vendor) will be required to return royalty payments (10% of profit) to the school district per the Non-Affiliate License Agreement. Non-Affiliate vendors determine the item price, distribution, and sale (store, online, etc.) of independently produced products.
If you are a vendor working with a school group that will use the products as a fundraiser (“Affiliate Vendor”), you are not required to pay royalties. Affiliate vendors typically don’t determine the price to purchase finished products that are then sold by the group for fundraising purposes. Affiliate vendors also often sell items at cost to groups, teams, and activities.
Vendor Registration for the Year
-
Submit a 2024-2025 Affiliate Vendor application or Non-Affiliate Vendor application. Some vendors submit both to cover all bases. Every brand project submitted for approval will be reviewed to ensure the vendor designing and/or producing the products/materials is registered appropriately and has signed license agreements. Registering at the start of the school year helps expedite project approvals that may happen later in the year.
-
Sign and submit a 2024-2025 Affiliate License Agreement or Non-Affiliate License Agreement. Vendors will not be added to the Approved Vendor List and Brand Projects will not be approved until the vendor has both registered online and returned the signed license agreement.
-
Upon approval, vendors will receive an email confirmation from SCSD or our brand management partner, Letterman Creative. The vendor company name, contact, and email will be added to the Approved Vendor List for the remaining school year.
