Saydel Families,
Here are our food pantry's hours this summer. If you need additional access, please contact the district office.
Update: We are shifting the June date from the 17th to JUNE 24th due to scheduling conflicts.

Greetings Saydel Community!!
We have an exciting announcement to share with the stakeholders of our Saydel Family. Over the past eight months, the Saydel Facility and Grounds Steering Committee, consisting of over 40 members (community, parents, staff, and board members), has been working diligently to identify projects across our district for an upcoming bond referendum. The project sets at each campus address three major areas: safety and security, classroom and learning spaces, and activities and athletics, which all help to increase the longevity of our facilities and grounds as well as the sustainability of our district as a premier school in the metropolitan area. It’s truly a WIN for Learners, a WIN for Taxpayers, and a WIN for Schools and the Community.
Furthermore, we will be asking our public to support a $26.9M bond effort, which will not raise our school tax rate. For more information (project details, FAQ, Timeline, and Town Hall Meetings-TBD), please see our Saydel Bond Referendum Webpage, as well as taking time to view our Saydel Bond Referendum Kick-Off Video.

Lastly, we have a team working to circulate a bond petition, where we will be collecting signatures in efforts to place the referendum on the November 3, 2026 ballot. If you are interested in signing the petition, you may request a team member to stop by your residence to sign and share more information on the effort, you may also stop by the district office to sign, and/or you can look for committee representatives at upcoming school and community events.
Thank you for your time today and your ongoing support of our amazing schools. Go Eagles!!!
Yours In Service,
Todd A. Martin, Saydel CSD Superintendent

Here’s what you need to know:
Saydel CSD property tax rate is decreasing by $.21 from $12.73 to $12.52 per $1000 of valuation.
The current years property tax statement includes the following:
*Current year’s property tax rate/amount
*Next year’s effective property tax rate after valuation changes
*Proposed tax levy for next fiscal year
*An explanation for the variance between years
Please remember changes in valuation, rollback percentages and other taxing authorities (ex: county, city, township) will impact your total tax bill but are NOT determined by your local school board. County auditors will mail statements on March 15th.
The public hearing for Saydel Schools is on March 23th at 6:00 pm. Details are on the district’s website: https://www.saydel.k12.ia.us/district/BusinessOffice.cfm

Our preschoolers absolutely SHINED on stage! From the biggest smiles to the tiniest, bravest waves to the crowd, they reminded us all what joy looks like. The singing, the hand motions, the proud little bows — every moment was priceless.
To our incredible teachers: thank you for the time, patience, creativity, and love you pour into these children every single day. The confidence our students showed today is a direct reflection of the safe and encouraging classrooms you create. 💛
And to our amazing parents and families: thank you for practicing songs at home, helping with festive outfits, adjusting schedules, and filling the room with so much support and applause. Your partnership means everything.
Most of all, we are so proud of our preschoolers. It takes courage to stand in front of a crowd, and today they showed us just how capable they are. What a beautiful way to celebrate the season together! 🎶❄️

🚫 Building Use Notice:
Because campuses are closed, all building use is suspended, including:

Community or outside organization activities
The only exception during winter break will be sanctioned high school practices, as permitted by district administration. Please note that if ice and snow fall occur over the holiday break, sidewalk and parking lot clearing may be delayed or minimized due to available staffing.
🏀 Athletic Competitions:
Conference high school basketball games scheduled for January 2 will be played as scheduled.
